In the remodel of a high-rise corner apartment a floor to ceiling ambient light installation offers a counterpoint to the views. The light wall runs the length of the apartment's inside interior wall. The inspiration came from the mood set by 70's space rock and ambient music pioneers-- like Cluster, Brian Eno, and Michael Rother. A computer shows a variety of videos, (sunlight sparkling on Lake Merritt, cows grazing in a field, fish in a tank, among others...). The videos are slowed down and each pixel is transmitted to 2" LED's behind floor to ceiling walls of acid etched glass, effectively blowing out any sharpness of the video and creating ambient slowly moving light patterns. Light wall design in collaboration with Jonathan Foote and Peter Noble; source video by Sierra Helvey.
